Nutrition Education Q & A

What is nutrition education?

Nutrition education at NorthShore Weight and Metabolism starts with a consultation with our Director of Nutrition, to learn about you, your goals, and your needs. Whether you want education on healthy eating and behaviors related to food, meal planning, and prep, or weight loss, Jennifer will create a plan that works for you and fits into your schedule, with virtual meetings at a frequency you both decide would work best.

Is nutrition education right for me?

For anyone looking to learn more about macronutrients, micronutrients, low-carb eating, plant-forward eating, clean eating, and many other things related to food in general, you’ve come to the right place and yes, nutrition education is for you!

Everyone can benefit from learning how food has an impact on weight, metabolism, inflammation, energy balance, and even sleep. The path to a healthier life starts with analyzing how you are eating, and the most effective way to start is under the care of a nutrition expert.

What should I expect during nutrition education?

We understand that picking up the phone and getting started on your weight loss or lifestyle change journey can be difficult and intimidating. When you work with NSWM and our Director of Nutrition Education you will have one-on-one guidance to learn how to make the changes needed to lose weight and improve your nutrition and health once and for all.

To meet your expectations, Jennifer is available to not just teach you about nutrition, but also to understand and help you overcome any weight loss barriers you may have experienced in the past.

How many nutrition education sessions will I need?

Research has shown that it’s not diet and exercise alone that lead to successful weight loss, it’s accountability, nutrition education, behavior modification, and the support of a team on your side, cheering you on. NSWM is committed to your success!

We will discuss your individual needs and goals and design a program to help you meet them. But it doesn’t end there. When you continue to work with us in our maintenance program after reaching your goal weight, we provide the support needed to make this the last time you lose weight. We will be right there supporting you to maintain that weight loss through vacations, holidays, everyday stress, and any other obstacles that can get in the way.

If good nutrition and a healthy weight are personal goals, then making a lifetime commitment makes sense. No, you don’t need to plan on endless nutrition sessions, however, we are here for support for as long as you feel you need us! Our patients who do succeed in maintaining their weight loss, usually continue visits (even if only once per month) for a year or more.
